Sentosa Golf Club appoints Brett Saggus as Golf Course Superintendent

June 10, 2026;

Sentosa Golf Club has appointed Brett Saggus as Golf Course Superintendent, succeeding Senior Golf Course Superintendent Rodney McKeown. Saggus joins from BRG Group in Vietnam, where he served as superintendent across multiple properties, bringing deep expertise in complex agronomy operations, tropical turf management and elite tournament preparation.

The appointment follows one of Sentosa’s most intensive tournament periods on record. The club hosted the HSBC Women’s World Championship, LIV Golf Singapore and the Singapore Open across eight consecutive weeks, with the world’s leading professionals competing on both The Serapong and The Tanjong to widespread acclaim for the quality and consistency of the surfaces.

Saggus was present at both LIV Golf Singapore and the Singapore Open, working closely with the agronomy team to support the delivery of these tournaments and gain first-hand insight into the club’s operational standards during peak championship conditions.

This appointment comes against the backdrop of one of the most demanding operational periods in Sentosa’s recent history. Across The Serapong and The Tanjong, the club continues to operate under its ‘Tournament Ready 365’ philosophy, maintaining championship-standard playing surfaces year-round while hosting an exceptionally high volume of play alongside a world-class tournament calendar.

“I feel very fortunate to step into this role and follow in the footsteps of Rodney [McKeown], who did an outstanding job and left the operation in exceptional shape,” said Saggus. “Sentosa’s operations are already highly refined. My approach is to listen, observe and make improvements where needed, ensuring that any changes are meaningful. What excites me most is the level of innovation here, and I am proud to be part of it.”

Saggus will work closely with Andy Johnston, General Manager and Director of Agronomy, as Sentosa Golf Club continues to invest in performance, technology and innovation. The club operates as a Toro Centre of Excellence in Asia and uses advanced tools including the USGA GS3 Ball for objective measurement of putting surface performance.

“Brett brings exactly the experience and mindset we were looking for,” said Johnston. “Overseeing courses across different stages of development, combined with his tournament experience, gives him a breadth of knowledge that will serve Sentosa very well. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
