Close House is celebrating an outstanding year of supporting charitable fundraising, with more than £350,000 raised for a wide range of charities through events hosted at the Northumberland venue during 2026.

Throughout the year, Close House hosted 30 charity golf days, bringing together golfers, businesses, supporters and charitable organisations to raise vital funds for causes across the North East and beyond.

Among the highlights was the annual Have a Heart Charity Golf Day, which raised an incredible £90,000 in support of the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation. The event has become a significant fixture in Close House’s calendar, bringing together more than 200 guests and a host of well-known faces in support of educating and inspiring children and young people in the North East of England.

Further fundraising successes included more than £21,000 raised by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) Charity Golf Day, £23,000 raised by the Greggs Foundation and £30,000 in aid of the Alan Shearer Foundation Golf Day.

Close House also directly contributed in excess of £30,000 through donations to support charitable fundraising initiatives during the year, further demonstrating the club’s commitment to helping organisations generate valuable funds for their respective causes.

Across the 35 charity days hosted during 2026, Close House has supported a broad range of organisations and causes, including Cancer Research, Newcastle United Foundation, Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter and St Oswald’s Hospice, alongside many other local and national charities.

Charitable events have become an important part of the calendar at Close House, with the club providing a setting where organisations can bring supporters together while using golf as a platform to raise funds and awareness.

“We are incredibly proud to have helped raise more than £350,000 for charity through events at Close House this year,” said Jonathan Lupton, Managing Director at Close House. “Hosting 30 charity days throughout the year has been fantastic, and the generosity shown by everyone involved has been incredible. Supporting charities and the wider community is hugely important to us at Close House, so it is particularly rewarding to see the impact these events can have.”
