Golf and Leisure Complex Cuts Costs and Emissions with Sustainability Technology

July 21, 2026;

Worcestershire’s Gaudet Luce is set to generate almost a quarter of its electricity onsite following an energy infrastructure upgrade delivered in partnership with business transformation specialist Commercial.

Combining rooftop solar, EV charging and voltage optimisation, the project will reduce emissions, cut costs and modernise the energy infrastructure of the golf and leisure complex.

A 72-panel solar array will generate around 33,900kWh of renewable electricity annually, covering 22.8 per cent of total site consumption and saving approximately eight tonnes of CO₂e each year. Over the system’s lifetime, this equates to a 168-tonne carbon reduction, equivalent to planting more than 15,000 trees.

Based on current electricity rates of £0.24/kWh, the system is expected to deliver more than £7,000 in first-year savings. This will exceed £315,000 over its lifetime, with an estimated four-year payback period.

Meanwhile, voltage optimisation technology will reduce electricity consumption by improving efficiency across the clubhouse supply. The 100-AMP installation has a projected three year payback period.

“This is an important and pragmatic development for us,” said Jenny Fernihough, Director at Gaudet Luce. “By reducing energy use and costs, we’re improving the sustainability and long-term resilience of our complex.”

The site also has two new EV charging stations to support growing demand for sustainable travel infrastructure at leisure destinations.

Commercial’s full-service approach covers all aspects of delivery, from system design and DNO applications to installation and post-completion support.

“Projects like this show what’s possible when you take a joined-up approach to sustainable energy,” said Simone Hindmarch, Co-founder and Managing Director at Commercial. “Combining solar, voltage optimisation and EV charging will enable Gaudet Luce to reduce emissions, make long-term savings and future-proof its facilities.”
