INFINITUM, has completed its multi-million-euro renovation of The Hills, redefining the celebrated Costa Dorada course through innovative design and sustainability-led enhancements.
Led by Dave Sampson of European Golf Design, the extensive refurbishment has delivered significant enhancements across all 18 holes, combining strategic design improvements with industry-leading sustainability initiatives.
Sustainability has remained a central focus throughout the renovation. The introduction of drought-resistant Bermuda 419 fairways and Zoysia grass around bunkers, significantly reducing water and chemical consumption, while bunker refinements across the course have enhanced both maintenance efficiency and playing strategy.
Most notably, the dramatic transformation of the 18th hole into an island-green-style finale framed by the course’s iconic quarry backdrop. Further enhancements included a lengthened par-three tenth hole with a redesigned green complex, a new water feature on the 15th hole and the reversal of the 15th and 16th holes to improve strategy and flow throughout the closing stretch.
The recently completed front nine has brought equally impressive improvements. The opening hole has been reimagined from a left-to-right dogleg into a right-to-left challenge, creating a completely new strategic test from the first tee. A new short-game practice facility, featuring dedicated putting and chipping areas, has also been introduced, while extensive work to the ninth hole has seen the creation of a new teeing ground and redesigned green complex. Additional enhancements to the rockface surrounding the eighth green further strengthen the course’s visual appeal.
The completed renovation represents the most significant investment in the Hills course since its opening in 2008 and follows the successful transformation of the neighbouring Lakes course in 2024, further reinforcing INFINITUM’s reputation as one of Europe’s leading golf destinations, and a Premium member of worldclass.golf.
